Design Process
-
I started by meeting with the founder to understand SixLines goal: to make economic models more accessible to the public. The focus was on simplifying how people interpret data in a visual and interactive way.
Key Points:
Founder interviews to uncover the vision
Reviewed competitors and similar platforms
Identified frustrations with current model exploration tools
-
From the discovery phase, we defined the main issue: most tools were too technical or not intuitive. We wanted to balance simplicity with credibility and offer a cleaner user experience.
Key Points:
Narrowed down user pain points
Wrote a core problem statement
Outlined goals: usability, clarity, and trust
-
I began brainstorming and sketching layout ideas, focusing on how to structure data without overwhelming the user. I also explored visual directions that matched the platformβs academic credibility.
Key Points:
Sketched layouts and navigation flows
Prioritized features that improved comprehension
Explored minimalist UI approaches
-
Once the layout and features were clear, I created high fidelity mockups and interactive prototypes. I paid close attention to type hierarchy, spacing, and how the user interacted with data.
Key Points:
Designed in Figma
Used a clean grid system and readable typography
Built a clickable prototype for testing
-
After presenting the prototype to the founder, I gathered feedback and made adjustments. I iterated based on both stakeholder input and usability needs.
Key Points:
Improved layout spacing and visual clarity
Added contextual tooltips and mobile tweaks
Updated copy to guide the user more clearly
-
I finalized the design and handed off the assets with detailed documentation. The founder was able to share the project with partners and early stage users confidently.
Key Points:
Delivered high-fidelity mockups and prototype
Packaged visual guidelines and layout specs
Supported handoff for future development
